First Impressions of M15 with BSB members
With the BSB group:
M15 is fully spoiled!
Hey everyone! Chaz here, though the narrative of this particular update is not from solely myself, but with the rest of the group here at BSB. I posed the question on Facebook as follows:
So, there is the premise of what members had to respond with. To give you all an idea of what's been going on in our group in regards to M15, hopefully their ideas will help you all to forming your own conclusions. There has been some varying ideas, though there has also been a shared mentality to specific cards as well.
So here are the responses in order in which they were given:
Colin Lugo: “1. The Gryff- torpor orb on a stick. Will greatly impact modern2. None. I think financially the set is shit. Maybe chord of calling? But doubtful.3. Garruk. He is too slow and his upsides aren't worth 7 mana.”
Lyon Kressner: “1. I think this isn't going to be 1 card, but a mix of 3 cards: Chord of Calling, Garruk Apex Predator, and Nissa Worldwaker. There's going to be a green-based devotion ramp deck that will utilize all/most of these and it's going to be scary.
2. Foil Hushwing Gryff. I believe this card will see play in Modern and EDH heavily, so foils will be higher than usual. Also, Aetherspouts is insane and no one is talking about it.
3. Honestly, the Soul cycle. I think these cards are over hyped and nowhere near as playable as everyone thinks they are.”
Reuben Aniki Alvarado: “1: this might be cheating but the "Convoke" cards. Especially Chord of Calling & Stoke the Flames.
2: Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth ( mono black continues to be a thing ) & the pain lands.
3: I hope I'm wrong but the souls :^( “
Samuel Wells: “1. As people have said before, the cards that are going to most impact standard are Nissa and Chord. These cards are just absurd. But to give another card that could influence standard, Spirit Bonds could go into a white weenies strategy. I think it is underrated at this point.
2. Sliver Hivelord, especially foil, will just be ridiculously expensive thanks to edh. Also the fact that he is a legend means that there will be new edh sliver players so there will be an immediate high demand for him.
3. The dud from this set I think will be Ajani. He may find a home in the same deck as spirit bonds or in some bant superfriends list, but he doesn't really give that extra oomph to the cards that he is buffing in either of those strategies and he is worthless by himself, so I could see those decks forgoing him altogether.”
So, with M15 fully spoiled there you have some thoughts from our members here in our group. Look for more information and ideas about the set in upcoming articles here on the blog. While these are merely first impressions, the narrative could change once people have cards in hand and what they do with them in tournaments. Though I feel here at the BSB we give you all a great bunch of ideas of what the outcome of all your questions will be.
So be sure to drop us a line, and as always we would love to expand the community. So join up and get in on the discussions. Also all commenting is now open on the blog so feel free to comment here as well, any and all discussions are sure to be looked at by the members and writers here.
