Weekly Speculating- Week 1-Introductions
Hello! Chaz here, host of Bolt-Snap-Bolt podcast and member of our amazing group of members. Whether it be a Financial, Standard, Legacy, or anything else MTG related our members will always bring some expertise to you, our readers, and listeners. I made this group and community to bring an impactful dialogue to a passion that we all share. Too long I have been sitting in countless MTG groups on Facebook with no dialogue or feeling dictated to by blogs or articles. I feel there’s a voice that is lost, and I feel it’s the most important to our group and myself. Not everyone needs to have Pro Points or multiple Star City Open titles (though it helps one's case, and certainly welcome that viewpoint in the community) to have an impactful say on an MTG topic. We’re always looking to expand that community, at the end of the article I will give you the means to do that!
That being said, as I wanted to give a brief introduction to us here at BSB. I will get into my weekly segment of which cards I’m speculating on, this will not be a drawn out wordy weekly segment, but one that I plan to do just to give people food for thought and add to a spec target on one’s list.
Without any more delay, here they are:
Underworld Cerberus- You will have heard me talk about this at some point in our podcast and Facebook group, I think at the current price-point there really is no downside to picking this up for a future Standard considering Theros will have another full year with a different block. Big, has evasion, fairly costed, and mythic, all ingredients for playability somewhere, and certainly has room to go. (I realize as I write this I sound like a broken record to the BSB community and they’re going to laugh >_< )
Price point I bought at: .99c - $1.50 (channelfireball Standard sale and ebay auctions)
Price point I think it could reach- 5-6$
*if you can find these under one doller I would urge to buy as many copies as you feel you should buy the worst that can happen is you lose a few dollars off buy-listing them back*
I wanted to show both printings because I was specifically noticing the up-tick on FOIL versions of this card. It has seen an increased amount of play in legacy, and unique Phyrexian Mana-cost.
I bought Promotionals, trends dictate that sooner or later promo versions trend up to meet other foil pricings.
Price point I bought at: 6.50$ (ebay auctions)
Price I think it could reach- 20+$
**Again these are specifically foil and promotional listings only**
This card is a buy and hold, much like surgical extraction. Again, these are for FOIL versions, both promotional, or regular foil. Regular foils may be sought after more, but sooner or later the promotional catches up when regular foil versions dry up.
Pricepoint I bought at: .99c-$2.00 (I picked up a few versions in a foil box at a local LGS, I wouldnt buy at anything higher than 2.00 dont make my mistake) Pick these up at under 1.00 and put them away for a while.
Price I think it could reach- $15+ (you may think Im crazy, but I think it really could reach close to where foil glimpse the unthinkable is. After some time of course) Dont underestimate casual/EDH demand and mill effects such as these.
**Other cards to rope together with Breaking//Entering: Mind Grind/Consuming Apparition** Again, foil versions.
Missed the boat: (dont bother buying into these now, kudos who bought lower than 40$)
Dont cry, and dont complain, it was bound to happen. Many people speculated on these for quite some time, had plenty of time to buy these. I couls see this coming down slightly, but not by much, new price is here to stay.
Card to watch:
Shocklands, if they start to fall in price, start slowly picking them up. Real-estate is key.
Cards to unload:
Fetchlands, yeah, with the modern PTQs coming. It would be great to get rid of these at theyre peak, but dont wait out for the final 5$, if youre attending large events. You can get great buylist prices on site. Get rid of these and use the proceeds to buy dual lands before it’s too late and all Blue duals find a home in the $300+ territory.
So that’s it for the weekly round-up, expect this format in how it was structured. Though in the coming weeks it mostly wont be so wordy.
